The new 175,000 square-foot Life Sciences Building features two wings with 33 wet laboratories, offices, scholarly activity space and building support spaces on five floors plus a basement vivarium. The open laboratories are designed to enhance interactions among life scientists conducting state-of-the-science research, often in interdisciplinary teams, working side by side, using different tools and new approaches. Laboratory and research spaces include plant growth rooms, 19 environmental control rooms and five autoclave rooms for cell biology, neuroscience, genomics and stem cell research.
96,000 square-foot administrative building with flexible office space, conference center, multipurpose theater and exhibition areas. The design includes flexible and spaces that maximize comfort and productivity within an energy efficient platform. Daylight is drawn deep into the building’s core while the thermally efficient exterior envelope minimizes glare and heat loading through carefully positioned apertures that balance transparency with passive cooling.
New 172,000 square-foot biomedical laboratory high rise intended to foster collaboration between university researchers and private industry; with flexible laboratory spaces, faculty and administrative offices, conference center, 188-seat auditorium, meditation garden and helipad.
190,000 square-foot high performance research facility consisting of laboratories and offices for 25-30 collaborating researchers. The building is located in the southwest quadrant of USC University Park Campus, home to most of the campus science and engineering buildings. The new building will include state-of-the-art flexible laboratories, a Center for Electron Microscopy and Analysis, a nanofabrication facility and microscopy imaging facilities.
